Antibacterial-Coated, Braided, Polyglycolic Acid (PGA), synthetic absorbable suture
Visorb® Plus sutures provide the same feel, handling and performance of our Visorb® product, but with the added assurance of antibacterial protection.
Visorb® Plus sutures are coated with the proven antibacterial agent, chlorhexidine diacetate, that results in a zone of inhibition around the suture line. This agent is recognized as being effective against bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermis, MRSA and MRSE.
DESCRIPTION
Visorb® Plus is an antibacterial-coated, braided, synthetic absorbable surgical suture, composed of Polyglycolic Acid (PGA). The suture is coated with polycaprolactone, calcium stearate, and chlorhexidine diacetate.

TENSILE STRENGTH
Subcutaneous tissue implantation studies in rats indicate Visorb® Plus suture retains approximately 83% of the original tensile strength at 14 days post implantation, approximately 52% of its original tensile strength at 21 days and approximately and 20% at 28 days post implantation.
ABSORPTION
Absorption begins as a loss of tensile strength without appreciable loss of mass. Absorption of Visorb® Plus sutures is essentially complete between 60 and 90 days.
